My Year as a Clown

I released my first novel on the Indie imprint, Against the Grain Press in January of 2013.  MY YEAR AS A CLOWN was the 2013 Silver Medal winner in Popular Fiction awarded by the Independent Publisher Book Awards. It broke the Kindle Top 30 Chart and hit #1 on three other Amazon Charts. Amazon also choose the novel for the Kindle Deal of the Day. Book Bub also choose it as their eBook selection of the day in January of 2016.

As a novelist, I have a unique perspective in regards to corporate communication. In the same way a writer uses story, setting, character and language to drive a novel, companies and not-for-profits have the same elements and choices when it comes to how they tell their story. After getting my MBA from Harvard Business School, I spent a year as an Associates Fellow writing cases on international business and government/business relationships. I also wrote a book about the European Community for the American Management Association.

Here’s what people are saying about My Year as a Clown:

“With MY YEAR AS A CLOWN, Robert Steven Williams has written a terrific novel. He pulls back the curtain on male masculinity — showing us what a guy really goes through when dealing with the difficult mess of his beloved spouse’s infidelity and the ensuing divorce. Williams‘ characters give us the real-deal:  a gut wrenching and often humourous look, showing us the everyday horrors of what it’s like to start all over again as one approaches middle age.”

Suzan-Lori Parks, Pulitzer Prize winning playwright for Topdog/Underdog

“Robert Steven Williams has written a novel of tremendous honesty, humor, and insight. His story of Philadelphia Eagles-loving Chuck Morgan, cast adrift on the rocky shoals of dating when his wife of twenty years suddenly leaves him, does for men what Bridget Jones’s Diary did for women.”
